it must be the new shoes…

Remember how I mentioned that I went to PA with the fam and also did some shopping apart from the amusement park?! Well, it’s time to cover what was purchased on that trip. I think you might have a slight guess from the title of this post.

My goal was to hit up the Under Armour outlet store, and hit it up hard! My main goal was to get new running shoes this trip, regardless of where they came from, but I really was hoping for New Balance. Sad thing is I couldn’t find a New Balance outlet close to us, so Under Armour was looking like the next best thing.

Let’s just say that it wasn’t even the next best thing, but turned out to be the best thing.

They may look super crazy, but there’s good reasons for me picking these colours.

#1. The only other colour in this style were grey and green, which are the same colours as my last pair of runners. I may be boring, but not that boring.

And, #2. Simplest girl rule: choose the shoe that makes your feet look the smallest. That was totally the black ones.

Oh, and maybe #3. Having a shoe that feels like your walking on a cloud > crazy colours!

I have more to say about these shoes, but before I get to that, I wanted to also quickly show you the clothing purchases from Under Armour as well. I have one shirt that I really wear from Under Armour, but other than that, I’m a loyal lululemon fan. But, seeing as lululemon is pretty much out of my price range at the moment and I need more summer running gear, Under Armour was my go to.

Pretty sure everything I bought, including the shoes, would have covered one pair of pants from lulu, plus a headband, if lucky. That was reason enough to switch brands.

I tested out the purple shirt yesterday with a nice 4 miler around the new subdivision, and it totally did the job for this pregnant lady. The top is super long, which I like, and will expand awesome with my belly, which I also like. It also did it’s job of absorbing all my sweat and keeping me cool!

It was my own fault for getting so sweaty in the first place, because I always seem to overdress when I run outside. Oh, when will I learn!!

This brings me to the point of my post…back to those shoes.

I was going to run outside, but decided it was too windy and also having a knock at my door from one of the construction guys saying, “in about an hour we’re turning the water off for 2-3 hours while we work on the water main” was enough convincing for me to go to my mom’s and just use her treadmill.

I felt SO fantastic in my new shoes, that I wish you could have morphed into me. I do not kid when I make the comparison to running on a cloud (if it were possible to do this).

Not only did I run 8 miles instead of the 6 I had planned to do, but I also did one of those 8 miles at 6.6mph which is pretty much unheard of for me lately. I just felt so good, and my breath was pretty even, that I made it happen! My typical pace is anywhere from 6.0 – 6.3mph so running that 6.6 felt like a huge accomplishment…especially at 23.5 weeks pregnant.

It must be the new shoes 😉

I tested out the new shorts on this run, as well, and success, no chaffing!!

Please ignore the very untoned upper leg region. I clearly have a lot of work to do before these shorts hit the streets!

Where do you get most of your workout gear from OR which brand do you love the best?!

I always have been a lulu lover, but I could see myself getting more Under Armour now!

what i’ve learned about moving: part two

There was never the intention to make a part two of this type of post, but moving has given me a lot to vent talk about.

Part one is here.

————————-
The additional things I’ve learned from moving:

1. Grandparents are amazing. Not only did mine come into town to help me clean and pack, but they did this for almost 7 hours with me. Had they not come up, I seriously think I would have been screwed. They probably never want to come back and visit me again because of the slave labour I put upon them, so I volunteered I go clean there house when need be.

2. Packing the little things is tedious. I think they’re worse than the big things. I felt like a bag lady.

3. Moving in summer is never fun. I think I sweat the amount I drank yesterday…which is probably the equivalent of 2.5L.

4. Don’t have your oven on the self-clean mode while you’re trying to pack up everything. Not only will it turn the already small space into an oven, but will make you sweat more than humanly possible.

5. Wear a good deodorant. The last thing you need is your grandparents avoiding your calls because you physically drained them and because they never want to smell you. Again.

6. When you think you’ve done/cleaned/cleared everything, chances are you haven’t. Did you remember to check the cupboard above the fridge?? That’s what I thought….

7. Don’t let your husband leave for a golf weekend. Ever is probably key but especially when you’re trying to move. I might have left out the minor detail that he was gone in case you were wondering why I dragged my grandparents into town.

8. And finally, don’t keep moving every 8 to 9 month like we seem to do. Find a spot and stay!!! Being gypsies was fine when it was just the two of us but babies bring tons of little things along with them (refer back to #2).

————————-
Have you moved around a lot in your life? If so, how many times?
I’ve only been moving more recently since meeting the husband. He’s slowly pushed his gypsy ways on me!!

baby: 23 weeks

How far along? 23 weeks!!

Baby’s size? A ‘large’ mango (not sure how it goes in size from squash to mango, but I’ll roll with it :P).

Total weight gain/loss: I’m not sure why ‘loss’ is even an option for this question haha.

Maternity clothes? Still keeping strong at none. But want/need more flowy tops.

Stretch marks? None still, and I had a friend last night give me some of her cream she used while pregnant so I can’t wait to slather it on!!

20120723-120651.jpg

Sleep: Still no problems here which I’m thankful for!! I know that one can change soon haha!

Best moment this week: Going with my fam to Pennsylvania and getting new running shoes! But I still haven’t tried them out yet! Anyone else not like getting new running shoes dirty?!?!

Another awesome moment this week was my little sis feeling lotsa baby kicks since we shared a bed together at the hotel. So she got to feel all the night kicks when I first get in bed!! She was so excited!

Miss Anything? Having a nice summer bevy!

Movement: I think I’m feeling them pretty consistently now! Tons of movement after walking around an amusement park all day!

Food cravings: I rocked some sweet tea while we were in the states because that stuff is delicious!!

20120722-211944.jpg

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing off the top of my head.

Gender: Still…your guess is as good as mine!

Labor Signs: No and lets keep it that way!

Symptoms: I can’t say that I have much to complain about.

20120723-120845.jpg

Belly Button in or out? It becomes more of an outtie each week. I’m still coping haha.

I took my belly button ring out 2 days ago. Sad, sad day.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or Moody most of the time: I’d say happy majority of the time.

Looking forward to: Midwife appointment next week and getting everything completely out of our old place and organizing the new one!!!

Pics to follow. It was an extremely busy day do expect pics of me looking fantastic. (This is pure sarcasm.)

what i’ve learned about moving

This shouldn’t be a hard one to guess. I’ve learned that packing sucks, and that unpacking sucks even more.

Thank goodness I’m not a thousand months pregnant or the amount that’s already been done so far would have been non-existent.

The one thing I did not want to go and do after work today was pack up more stuff from the old place. So I went to the old place, sat on the ground and called my grandma. Grandma’s trump packing up things you probably don’t care about anyways.

After I got off the phone with her, I got out of denial and got to work. It really was only our bedroom and the kitchen left, so I targeted the kitchen today. Baby’s gotta eat!

For some reason I move in slow motion when I do things I dread. So what probably could have taken 45 mins, I turned it into an hour and a half. And did I mention that I was hungry the whole time!!

It’s hard to believe that this space used to be our living room!!

20120721-194215.jpg

Now just an empty space that makes me wonder why it looked so much smaller with our stuff in it!! Does pregnancy mess with your perception?!

———————
Once I got back to the new place, I quickly got out the things I needed to make vegan BLTs (like the frying pan I dragged over from the old place), and pretty much devoured that bad boy!!

(recycled photo yet still delicious)

You can find me not unpacking the kitchen tonight because I can’t even bare to touch those boxes.

20120721-195049.jpg

Same goes for the hallway.

20120721-195207.jpg

As for where my sanity stands…your guess is as good as mine.

Since this was clearly not a baby bump post, that will be coming tomorrow. But for now, I did put this little pic together. Do you see the changes?!

What do you hate most about moving?
I seriously have to say it all..moving to a newer and bigger place was my only motivation.

What’s your favourite sandwich??
Love these vegan BLTs right now but also love a veggie sub from Subway!

Sorry if the photos are huge. I have no concept of their size on my phone. Thats one thing I’ll have to look at and alter if need be when I get my comp on some Internet!!
